DAN RANDALL
Singer-Songwriter, and Multi-instrumentalist
Dan Randall is a Singer-Songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who plays his own kind of Folk Rock on keyboard, fiddle, 10-string and slide bottleneck guitar, and harmonica. He also compiles his own kind of Ambient chill on digital keyboards and other tools. His ancient Gibson SG is involved with all of it.
He sometimes performs the Folk Rock material, but is unwilling to play karaoke with himself, so the Piano/guitar, and the Harp/fiddle duets are reserved to the Studio. This also holds true for
Vocal harmonies and many effects, but he has a few portable toys.
So, the CD’s are recommended. “Beachrocks” is all Instrumental music, “Make Up Your Mind” mostly Instrumental with important exceptions. Both are electronic music.
The other CD’s are what Dan calls “Hudson River School”, as they feature an Acoustic roots-based style which is original, but not out of place in the region. It’s in the water, or the air- neither of which is particularly pure or rarified.
Dan reads, he listens, and doesn’t pretend to be folksy. He values good writing, and good people as well- and the endless variety. The same old story probably isn’t a song worth writing. Of course, a new perspective makes a difference! Or a new chord progression. The rules are subject to change.
